Following reclamation of the land of Beach Street, Weld Quay

became the sea-front road of Penang’s port settlement. The jetty

of the Chew clan is one of Penang’s many “clan jetties”, this are

of timber and joined by plank walkways.

 v       Khoo Kongsi 

The Khoo Kong Si clan house has magnificent example of

 intricate wood carvings with Chinese architecture. This

 extravagant building is partly temple and a meeting hall for

Chinese of the same clan or surname.  

v       Little India – (Sri Mahamariamman Temple)

Located in the Street of Harmony is the beautiful Sri

Mahamariamman Temple which is endowed with brightly

coloured sculptures and swans.
